Anhedon.io is operated by Tunebat LLC ("we", "us"). By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Not medical advice

Anhedon.io is a for-fun recreation of the foraging task from Vittala et al. (2026). It has not been clinically validated. It is not a medical device, and it does not diagnose, screen for, measure, or treat depression or any other health condition. Your result is a game score, not a clinical assessment, and no result here — in either direction — says anything about your mental health or should be used to make decisions about it. Nothing on this site is medical advice or a substitute for consultation with a qualified healthcare provider. If you are concerned about your mental health, talk to a healthcare provider. If you are in crisis in the US, you can call or text 988 anytime.

No affiliation

The game is inspired by a published study (Vittala et al., PNAS 2026), but we are not affiliated with, and the site is not endorsed by, the study's authors, their institutions, or PNAS.

Using the site

The site is designed for adults and is not directed at children. You may use the site for personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to misuse it — including attempting to disrupt or overload it, scraping it at scale, or using it in any way that violates applicable law.

Intellectual property

The site, including its design, graphics, text, and code, is © 2026 Tunebat LLC. You may share your own game results freely (that's what the share button is for), but you may not copy or republish the site itself without our permission.

Disclaimer of warranties

The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and availability. Your give-up-point number is produced by a simplified remake of the study's task and may not resemble what the real experiment — or a clinical instrument — would have measured for you.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tunebat LLC and its members, officers, and employees will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the site, and our total liability for any claim relating to the site will not exceed $10 USD. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page with an updated effective date; continuing to use the site after that means you accept them.
