Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 10, 2026
Who we are
Anhedon.io is operated by Tunebat LLC. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, email us at info@tunebat.com.
The short version
There are no accounts, no forms, no ads, and no cookies on this site. We never learn your name, email address, or identity, and we don't sell or share data with anyone for marketing. The only data that leaves your browser is anonymous usage analytics, described below.
Analytics
We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand how the site is used. Plausible does not use cookies or any persistent identifier, and it does not track you across sites or over time. It records non-identifying statistics: the page you visited, the site that referred you, your browser and operating system, your device type, and your country (derived from your IP address, which Plausible does not store). The analytics script is served from our own domain.
We record a handful of gameplay events: game started, tutorial completed, run retried, game completed, result shared, and share text copied as a fallback. When you complete a game, share a result, or copy share text, that event includes the number of trees visited, the number of apples harvested, the number of recorded give-ups, and your give-up point. These values are not connected to your name, identity, or any identifier — they tell us how results are distributed across all plays, not who got which result.
Your game results and health information
Your game result is computed entirely in your browser. We have no database and no server-side storage, so your result is never saved anywhere by us — when you close the tab, it's gone, except for the anonymous analytics event described above. As explained on the home page, the result is not a diagnosis, screening, or measurement of depression, and we treat it accordingly: it is a game score, not a health record. If you use the share button, your browser opens your device's sharing panel so you can choose where to send the result. If native sharing is unavailable, the text is copied to your device's clipboard instead. We do not receive the share text or choose its destination.
Data stored on your device
The site stores a single flag in your browser's local storage (anhedonio:tutorial-seen:v1) so it can skip the tutorial after your first play. It contains no personal information and never leaves your device. You can remove it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for anhedon.io.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Vercel. Like virtually all hosting providers, Vercel's infrastructure may briefly process technical request data such as IP addresses in its platform logs to serve the site and protect it from abuse. We do not run any logging of our own.
Legal basis (GDPR)
For visitors in the European Economic Area and the UK, we process the limited technical data described above on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating the site and understanding, in anonymous, privacy-preserving form, how it is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
International transfers
Vercel is a US company; Plausible is an EU company that stores its analytics data in the EU. Where personal data (such as an IP address, processed transiently) is transferred internationally, these providers rely on recognized safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Retention
We retain no personal data at all. Anonymous, non-identifying analytics events and statistics are kept for as long as we operate the site.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, and to object to its processing. You can exercise these by emailing info@tunebat.com. One honest caveat: because we hold no data that identifies you, we will usually be unable to link any stored analytics to you specifically (see Art. 11 GDPR) — there is simply nothing on file about you as an individual. We do not sell personal information.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles data, we will update this page and its effective date.
